General

Q: How much does it cost?

A:  Design and setup are only $200. Hosting packages start at $30/month.

Q: How do I purchase a website package?

A:  Whether you want us to design your site, or you want to provide us with a design, or you want to pick something from our online design gallery, you will need to pick one of our packages and sign up for one of our hosting plans. Click here to start.

Q: What do I get with my package?

A:  You will get a design, one month of hosting which will automatically renew each month and access into the system to edit and update your site. You will receive up to one hour per month of content editing training/support, in addition to hosting questions. We will also administrate your email accounts. Please see individual package for further details.

Q: Do packages include content creation?

A:  No. Since your website is unique to you and is a reflection of your voice and perspective, we do not create text and images for you. Nobody knows you better than yourself, so you would be in the best position to present your strengths to your visitors. However, once you have created your content, if you need help getting it into your site, we do offer a content insertion service for an additional charge (please see our Extra Services for all of our additional services we have available).

Q: What happens when I sign up?

A:  We will contact you via email or phone and work with you to discuss your site. We will ask questions about the design of your site and any branding you currently use (logo, letterhead, brochures, etc.).

Q: What is the turnaround time for these website packages?

A:  Due to the personal attention we give our customers, we cannot make guarantees on our turnaround times. We do strive to complete our sites as quickly as possible. For our pre-built packages, the turnaround time is usually within 3-5 business days, while our custom packages are typically between 5-10 business days. Have your own design? Turnaround time is around 4-10 days business days

Q: Do I have to use your hosting with these packages?

A:  Yes and no. Our packages run on a content management system that allows you to edit and maintain your site, which we run on our servers. It provides you with dynamic features that are integrated with your site. While you are free to leave our services after the first month, you will lose the benefits of using the system.

Q: Can I take my site with me if I leave your hosting?

A:  You can use the template that came with your site on your domain if you decide to leave. Due to the dynamic nature of the site, we cannot provide you with any files, but you can use a program like wget to grab the files from our server. Be aware that any dynamic content, such as forms, newsletters, forums, etc. will no longer work since these only function with the content management system.

*New: We can provide you with a .t3d export of your site when you leave. This is a file generated by the TYPO3 export utility that contains your content and images. You can pull this file into any TYPO3 installation. The cost is $25 for the export. (Template setup will not be included)

Design

Q: When I purchase a template, do I own the template?

A:  Please see our Template License Agreement. You can use the HTML template even if you leave our services, but you can only use the template with the domain for which you signed up. Obviously, you will retain the copyright to anything you provide to us.

Q: Will my site look exactly like the screenshot in the package gallery?

A:  Your template may vary slightly from the screenshot. Also, the features in the screenshot may not be the features in the final site. Make sure to read the template description carefully.

Q: How does a custom design work?

A:  We will work with you and gather your ideas, logo and colors. We will create one design based on these ideas. You will be allowed one set of changes after that. Any further changes will be charged $200. Once the templates are set up in our system, you will be able to upload images, add pages and change menu names easily.

Q: Does a custom design include a logo?

A:  Since a logo helps an organization identify itself and its brand to its target audiences, we do not include a logo design with the website design service. If you do not already have a logo for your business, we can work with you and create one that represents you to your customers. Please see our Extra Services page for all of our additional services.

Q: Can I change the overall look of the website after it is online?

A:  While you can update logos, header graphics and content within the site, you may want to change backgrounds, fonts and the overall colors of the site. For an additional $200 fee, we can update the design for you. Alternatively, if you know CSS, you can update the style sheet found in your file directory. Simply, override the styles that have already been setup for you. If you run into problems, empty out the style sheet and the site will return to its original state.

Q: I signed up for a template, but I received an email that says it's unavailable. What happens now?

A: Unfortunately, templates can become "sold out" and will be unavailable even after you make a purchase. If this happens, we will contact you before any work is started and offer to substitute a similiar template or create a custom design for you. If neither of these options work for you, we will be happy to issue you a full refund.

Hosting

Q: What happened to your other hosting plans? (TEK 100, TEK 200 and TEK 300)

A:  These plans were meant to be for developers that use TYPO3 without any special support besides hosting. Over the years, we have often been asked by our customers to provide additional services and support. These FasTEK plans are meant to fulfill that need.

Our current non-FasTEK customers will still receive the same great service and support as before. The hosting fee will remain the same and  our current customers can request additional TEK plans at the same price at any time.

Q: Do you provide hosting plans other than the ones listed?

A:  We understand that some of our customers have special needs and we may be able to meet those needs. Please contact us directly.

Q: Why does your hosting plans cost more than "Company XYZ"?

A:  Simply because we offer more than just hosting. These packages are fully managed website solutions. They include the ability for you to add dynamic content such as news, newsletters, forums, blogs, etc., to maintain your site using an easy-to-use editor and to receive content editor support/training.

 

TYPO3 (for people familiar with the CMS)

Q: Do I have full administrator access to the site?

A:  No. You will have enough access to make updates and changes, but you will not be able to edit the template. You will be able to change the design quite a bit if you know CSS as there will be an empty CSS file included in the fileadmin directory. If you run into problems, just empty the file and the site will revert to its original state. We also take great care in making sure that the images, text, links and logo in the header and footer can be edited by you.
